Dr Kwabena Amo-Antwi

About Me

Dr Kwabena Amo-Antwi (KAA) has been an obstetrician-gynaecologist at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital for about 14 years and 22 years as a practicing doctor. He has performed or assisted in over 1000 retroperitoneal surgeries which are essential for early ovarian, cervical, and endometrial malignancies. He also lectures at KNUST and is a trainer for obstetrics and gynaecology faculties of Ghana and West African Colleges of Surgeons, and previously as a part-time lecturer at Kumasi Nursing and Midwifery Teaching School nursing students. He is goal-oriented, funny, decisive, and a team player with superb leadership skills. My initial research area of interest was the treatment of women with cervical cancer in a low-resource setting; as background knowledge began to grow, I am now fascinated with research on the prevention and management of precancer cervical lesions and the molecular basis of ovarian and uterine cancer in black women. Several peer-reviewed journals have published his pioneering research on gynaecological cancer in Ghana. These studies focus on improving gynaecological cancer treatment in low-resource settings. While cancer is multidisciplinary, I have collaborated with other researchers in other disciplines, leading to publications in many specialities besides obstetrics and gynaecology. I have contributed to close to 30 publications in peer-reviewed journals.
